On a few occasions I have had problems getting the Yeti ( 5speed box) into reverse when first starting - gear lever wouldnt move across.

My wife commented the other day that she had to put the handbrake on before selecting reverse when first starting up.

This morning starting up in supermarket , reverse gear baulked - so applied handbrake and it slipped in beautifully.

Obviously no problem once car has started and a gear selected , just when selecting reverse from "cold" start.

 

Is this a feature or a fault ?

Cold gearboxes often baulk a gear first thing.

Just slip it into first or second to exercise the synchromesh first.

It should then go into reverse O.K.

(As far as I'm aware the handbrake has no connection.)
