VRS Head Gasket....

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

So the head gaskets going on my mk1 vrs. Verified by the tablet in the coolant test, which changed colour. What other problems am I looking at?

Have heard people saying the head can and cant be skimmed, heard about "burning" injectors causing a refurb to be needed, and a few other problems. I'm hoping the gasket can just be changed and then that be the end of it. The temp guage never goes above 90, always sits just below, however I have pulled up before and have heard something, only to find out its the coolant boiling.

Anyone had a head gasket go? Apparently there are quite rare on the PD engines.

Car is a 2006 mk1 fabia vrs, 153k on the clock.

Cheers

Pd150 engines seem to suffer more, its usually the steel gasket failing due to age and coolant not being changed.

id do it before it gets worse but use pd150 head bolts as there uprated to stop head lift

There is no hope.. you are doomed.

;)

I has mine changed and there were no issues, although I noticed quickly and never had boiling coolant. P.

If you plan to have the car mapped or upgraded, DONT skim the head. I have been told by two tuning companies now that this will effect the power of the PD130 engines :(

Possibly Jason may be able to confirm this information too ?
