My 4 month old VRS has developed what can only be described as a sweet wrapper type noise from near the ignition.

Anyone else had something like this? Tempted to take to the dealer but I'd prefer them not to rip half the dash out.

When is the noise there,

as you start it,

as you drive it,

as the steering wheel is turned.

 

Is it at the steering column and the key area, and no where near the dash?

 

Where is the steering wheel, set up, down, in or out.

Is the Column securely locked in place?

Is it maybe anything to do with the Leather between the Column and the Dash?

The noise is as I drive it, notice it most on the motorway.

 

If I press the lower part of the dash as close as I can to the steering column it makes that noise again, thought it could be a wire going to the light switch maybe?

 

Steering column is set in the middle for both.

If it continues to annoy, you will need to have them check, or turn the music up louder.

Thank you, so far I've just turned the music up.

 

 

If it gets any worse I'll take it in, just trying to avoid the dealer in case I like the look of the new Octavia VRS too much.

If a porker like me the centre storage box is a PITA when fastening the seat belt.

Otherwise lovely and comfortable.

 

220ps DSG is pretty nippy but not a touch on a Twincharger. JMO.

Good for quick transporting of passengers with luggage tho.

Like a Golf but not, like a Taxi! or Private Hire car.

Yes my car makes this noise too, generally only in very warm weather though.  I can stop it by pressing on the plastic near the steering wheel.

hi ,i had this proplem on my 6month fabia vrs and dealer ordered a new (dash surround ?)but at bottom of dash in middle below dials i pressed very very hard and something clicked into place and that was 4 months ago and no problems any more in that time.hope this helps as i needed a new glove box because of rattle.
