Interesting reading up the GTi has this noisemaker and soundaktor thingy installed to amplify the engine sound.

 

Wonder if it exist in our VRS too ?

Diesel vRS has a noise generator to try and make it sound like a petrol! There's been quite a big of discussion about it in the MkIII forum.

No none of the MK2 FL vRS's have this.

VW put it on the MK6 GTD, not so sure about the GTi but Audi use it in lots of applications....believe the TT has it.

not fitted standard, you could retrofit if you really wanted it, but most guys with it end up removing it!

I had this on a scirocco 170tdi.

I didn't realise it was there, I always thought the engine just sounded good 

 

I know a lot of people are taking these off now but I'm not sure why.

If you google soundaktor retrofit there are quite a few guides on how to do it.

I've got a 3yr old. He does the noises from the back seat. Costs a few jelly babies a day.
