Fitting USB

Featured Replies

I know some of you have fitted something like this into your Octavias.

Has anyone had any issues with them when wired in permanently? I am planning to wire it to a fused permanent live I already have in my fuse box to supply a 5V 1A supplied devices or similar.

This says it supports up to 3A, which they all seem to do. Will a 5A fuse be ok in the circuit please?

Thanks in advance

Adam

I fitted a 3.1A twin USB charger into my Octavia and used a fuse Buddy to get the switched live. I think it cost around £12. That didn't include the proporta 28awg USB power only cable. This pulls 1.2A all day on my S3. I wired it into the top box and worked great on out French holiday when I used my phone for navigation

Thanks for that

Thanks Mike. My plan is to wire to the fusebox as I have a loose isolated permanent live wire attached already from a previous project I could use. My thinking is I could leave something charging in the glove box while parked if it was permanent-I can't imagine the battery drain would be significant if it were a couple of hours or so. And if nothing were plugged in, there would be nothing draining it.
