I spent yesterday touring a couple of local dealers to work out my options to upgrade the audio in my Fabia vRS Mk2.

 

The 2 different systems recommended by the two dealers were:

 

Hertz:

 

ESK165 front speakers

HCP-4 4ch amplifier

ES250 10" sub + enclosure

Door soundproofing

Fitting and wiring

 

Total cost supplied and fitted: £825

 

 

Phoenix Gold/JL:

 

R65CS front speakers

SD320.4 4ch amplifier

JL CS110 10" BassWedge (sub in box)

Door soundproofing

Fitting and wiring

 

Total cost supplied and fitted: £722

 

 

What are peoples thoughts on these systems? The first (and more expensive one) seems the better quality and the dealer felt a little more 'trustworthy'. 

After looking around online, most of the component parts can be had more cheaply than either of the dealers offered (both quoting RRPs), so I was wondering if there is anyone on here who fits car audio and could give me a price to fit kit like this if I was able to source it? I'm looking to get the amp installed under one of the front seats and the sub in the boot.

Any thoughts?!

im shocked they aren't giving discount on the items you buy from them, most places do that.

At both dealers I think the discounts were maybe in the fitting charges...

Definitely with the dealer recommending the Hertz setup, they knock off a percentage to fit things they supply. The second dealer stated he would do sound deadening for £60 instead of £120. Not much of a discount really.

I am willing to travel for a good price and work quality!

As an update, I have managed to buy used some of the components I was recommended. I now own a set of Hertz ESK165's and a Hertz EBX-F20.5 8" sub with a 10" passive radiator - looks a really interesting piece of kit!

So, now I just need an amp and fitting!

Is there anyone in the area that does, or knows someone who does fitting?

I think what I am probably looking for is any people who are able to fit the items for me that I am gradually collecting second hand... Not sure how keen a shop/dealer would be to do that kind of work?
