I hardly use it and think itll look better with out it.

Don't get it. Must be old or something!

will the affect the MOT? I don't know myself but would be worth checkong out before you do it just in case....

Yes, its been done, try a search as its been covered on here before. The hole can be filled with a rubber/plastic bung.

I too don't get the removal of the rear wiper thing. I use mine two or three times a day during the winter months. Once before reversing off the drive, another a few minutes later to clear the condensation thats run down off the roof and then again when I set off home from work after its been raining.

Also, the vRS rear spoiler all but completely hides the rear wiper from any angle apart from above so there isn't really a cosmetic benefit either.

Then you have the hassle of refitting come resale time.

I now have a Skoda Superb without a rear wiper and really miss it.

There's mine. I prefer it without. Just a better look in my opinion.

My mk1 has no rear wiper & my mk2 has one,

I realy miss it when I drive the mk1.

Its ok when your driving at speed but when you stop and its raining then its a real pain not having one!

People also find it funny to push the rubber bung through the hole in the window , leaving you with a wet boot & a real pain stripping the boot liner out to retrieve the bung:-(

Hmm, that's why there are side mirrors.

Surely that's the whole point in mods?! Make it how you like the car?! I like it and it makes it look better in my opinion. And that's down to me. Others have made mods which I may not like but they do.

As for insurance. It's not compulsory by law to have a rear windscreen wiper. If you reverse into something then that is poor awareness and lack of usage for mirrors.

Never had an issue with my bung. Yours must be too small.

Don't need a rear wiper or mirrors, I have sensors that will tell me if there's anything behind me :peek:

A short story i had parked my BMW RT at the far end of a car park on the side of loch venacher. A Polish twit decided to reverse into my bike knocking it over and causing £800 of damage. His defense my reversing sensers did not register that your bike was there so its not my fault, i asked did you not check your interior mirror  look behind or check door mirrors, NO THATS WHAT REVERSING SENSORS ARE FOR. The bike is nearly as big as a car. It smashed his rear window and other damage. Fortunatelly i had a independant witness another BMW rider and wife he payed up. SENSORS/CAMERAS are aids not something to be relied upon. If you remove a safety aid ie rear wiper from your car that was a standard fitting for obvious saftey reasons and you remove it for asthetic reasons in my opinion you need to think again. Why not disengage your ABS afterall its not a requirement. This is only my opinion, no offence meant. But if a motorcyle parked behind you on a roadside spot in the rain you will impede the chances of you seing it. Try thinking from the person you might hits point of view if they spot a bung were a wiper used to be. I would also have thought from a mot point of view if its a standard fitment on your car it must be fitted and maintained.

It's not an MOT failure. It's like a rear view mirror, you don't actually need one if you have side mirrors.

I kind of get the point where people are saying that you can't see but e hatch has the spoiler so you can't really see below that anyway. It's never caused me an issue - even with limo tinted windows.

I'm guessing its a bit like marmite.

Must make it clearer when I'm being sarcastic!

Oh dear........either way i find the rear wiper useful but i have an estate which means i dont have the spoiler (really wanted one but have kids and cart lots of bits around when i pick them up....) Either way everyone is entitled to there opinion. I for one would not remove my rear wiper as i find it practical....
