front wheel bearings

Featured Replies

is anyone experiencing premature wheel bearing failure, because it would appear kermit the lemon is and getting worse with each day.

So the list is oil useage, intermittent window fault, more rattles than a babies toy and now this. Would I buy another Skoda as it stands at the moment I would say no, for a 2yr old car with 17000 miles thats terrible

Premature wheel bearings can happen on any vehicle, you just replace them.

Best deal with ASAP before you have failure of them, that is a major concern.

The other issues need repaired under Warranty.

Sorry to hear that you have these faults.

Wheel bearing failure at 17K is a new one. Shouldn't happen and I don't think it's common at all.

I can understand your frustration, it seems the Vrs is the only model in the range to suffer high oil usage, as for intermittent window failure and rattles it does appear they are common across the range.

Should you buy a different model? your choice but in the end you can read any forum for any model of car and they all have their problems. Mercs had window motor probelms for years, BMW 5's (E39) had Radiator problems and water pump failure leading in many cases to head gasket failure and that's not to mention there Nikasil woes..

It should be said that in general the reliability of the Fabia rates favourably when compared to similar models.

It can happen at any mileage, maybe a pot hole was hit, a Sleeping Policeman or 3 driven over too fast occasionally or regularly.

Drive a farm track to work etc.

Basically needs looked at, checked and a repair carried out if required.

The High Oil Usage issue is not to do with the car, it is the Engine which is built to give 178bhp from 1390cc,

the same engine, internal components, & at a less state of tune and without the supercharger fitted

does not have the oil usage that occurs with some of the engines.

They do TSI/TFSI 1.8 engines with 178 BHP, these have no Supercharger Fitted.

Assuming it is the wheel bearing, it is rare to have one fail at that mileage.

There is no part on a car that doesn't occasionally fail at low mileages.

Yup, such as all the rear wiper motors earlier this year that were goosed on the PDI's.

I appreciate these can happen to cars at any mileage, but to have all these things in one car at a low mileage cant be right. All I need is the gearbox and its full house

Sorry lost track, but have you owned this car from new, or what is its history?

Are you intending getting the wheel bearings checked out pretty soon,

or have you jacked up a wheel and checked the play, and how the bearing feels?

Which side or both sides?

2 year old car with 17k on the clock it's a warranty issue. Give it to the dealer to diagnose and repair.
