potential issues with 2012 Skoda Octavia 1.6 tdi CR Combi

Featured Replies

Hi,

I just got a 2012 Octavia 1.6 tdi CR combi (ex leasing car) with just 6.000 kms on the clock. Would like to know what to look out for on it as been reading a few things on this forum and they are not too confidence inducing (issues with DPF etc...).

This is a manual (5 Speed) and its usage will be mostly on weekends for some long trips . Could someone give me a heads up on some of the most common issues with this car/engine combo?

many Thanks!

Just drive it and enjoy it. Looking on a forum to judge a car is like walking into a hospital and concluding that the human race is doomed cos we are all terminally sick.

There will always be a higher proportion of folk on Briskoda with problems wanting help or advice.

Its a great engine, loving mine after 3000 miles.

There are very few (if any) issues with the 1.6 TDi CR105.

It is still a relatively new engine so any major reliability worries may still be undiscovered.

The DPF on the newer CR engines is now much less of an issue (like it was on the PD's) and by the sound of your driving (longer trips) then it will be even less of a concern.

Welcome to Briskoda too B)

True.

General "rule" is that everybody having an issue is present on a forum while the vast mass of those getting along fine don't bother to write.

Only, if a particular, single issue is very frequently reported, then it could be further investigated.
