Windows 7 HomeGroup

Featured Replies

Going round in circles here. Before I start, I'll list the devices;

1 Tower PC Win 7 Pro 32bit

1 Laptop Win 7 Pro32bit

1 BT HomeHub 2.0 (the curve black one)

Both 'puters are up to date, running the same software, MSE, Win 7 Firewall.

I'm trying to create a HomeGroup so I can transfer some files over to the towers larger HDD. I click create HomeGroup, get a password but the other PC only ever shows 'Create a HomeGroup' not 'Join HomeGroup' and I'm back at 12. Anyone more techy than me who can help at all please.

Followed WelskKaiBoy's advice a few minutes ago. Turned off MSE on both 'puters. Created HomeGroup on the tower and then the option to Join appeared on the laptop :thumbup:

Tried C&P a 750MB video file over from laptop to PC, six and a half minutes. Probably quicker to use a USB drive and walk there :D I'll try streaming some video in a minute or six. Also, while the C&P is in progress, the 'tinternet runs at a crawl.

Im guessing your using the laptop whilst c&p'ing ( :giggle: ) whilst going onto the internet. If your using wireless then the cause is right there infront of you. Basically the c&p'ing( :giggle: ) will be taking up the bandwidth on the card....though it should in theory equal all the traffic.....again, homehub 2 is older kit and i think it only runs wireless bg if im not mistaken....
