Skoda Vigin!

Featured Replies

Hi ladies & gents,

First time for me...so be gental :).

I'm in the process of "thinking" of purchasing a Skoda Octavia 1.9tdi ambiente,

it's an 02 reg, very clean,a very comprehensive full sevice history, but has 105,000 miles. On market for

The mileage certainly wouldn't put me off. If its had a clutch and turbo recently then its a bonus!

not sure if its a good price though, sounds reasonable enough!

Not too bad a price assuming it's in decent condition.

We've seen some octys with much higher mileage on here so it should still have plenty of life in it.

Thanks for your reply!

It hasn't had a new turbo or clutch, cambelt and brakes done on the 60,000

sevice, drove beautifully on the test dive, tight and true gearchanges, all electrics

ok, steering taught and responsive, power delivered smoothly, no sign of misbehaving turbo......is there anything that might sting later?

Cheers

Well, as long as you treat it with respect, keep on top of things when they go wrong, and service it regularly, it should last a very long time (350000 miles?).

If you can get warranty from the dealer, as well as a full service and cambelt change, you're laughing!

The manual says that cambelt changes should be done every 80k miles , although some people recommend 60k. That means you may be due another change in 15k miles so bear that in mind , but other than that there aren't any major points to look for other than the usual checks that you'd do on any second hand car.

Octavia 1.9TDi I serviced last week, all in good order, drove nice.

Cant see a problem with just over 100k ;)
