Tuning fabia vrs

Featured Replies

I'm sure this has been covered is it worth forking out on a frontmount and other stage 2 mods or just getting s cheeky remap with no mods

what are the requirments for stage 1 and stage 2 and is it worth it as i remember people with octy vrs's says get a remap or go the big turbo cuz inbetween is not worth it

how far do you want to go?

if you want new turbo and lots of power then wait for your map.

If you don't want to change turbos then get a stage 1 map.

you need to look into clutches etc if you decide to go big power etc

I have a fabia vrs mk1 and just wondered if its worth getting other mods for more power or just get a stage 1 map

What other mods are you thinking?

i was thinking getting exhaust, bigger intake, injectors, intercooler....or just mapping it and nothin' else...is it worth doing all these mods?

injectors,

Have you looked into the technicalities of this mod?  :D   It's not a step to be taken lightly.

Depends what you want from the car. If you want an all out flying machine, spend the money on another car. If you want to make the car what it should have been out the box then by all means intake, exhaust, remap and fmic if you want the power to be consistant. If you looking at bigger turbos and beyond then you're gonna need to upgrade the clutch aswel.

I bought mine with intake, exhaust, fmic and map already done so can't really give you a comparison over standard. I have since added a rear anti roll bar and a 312mm front brake upgrade. These, I would say, are definately worthwhile as they have actually given me some confidence that I can now drive the car a little bit spiritedly and not park it in a ditch :D

I don't see why people use 'stages' on Diesel engines, there is literally only 1 thing you can do without changing a turbo or clutch on the Pd130 engine and that is a remap, whereas with a petrol a remap is stage 1 , a decat, fmic and map tweak is stage 2, bigger turbo stage 3 etc...

Is that the same with every petrol and diesel car though? Even with petrol cars there are different "stages" between tuners.

In short no. You could do all those mods and the car would still only make 170bhp.

Matt, I'm thinking of getting mine tuned befor Castle Combe, you think this should see me right for 170bhpzzzzzzzz? On ebay cheapzzz it is.post-73816-0-89356700-1378588542_thumb.jpg

basically yes, how much do cats restrict patrols compared to diesels ? An awful lot ! My dads subaru did 258.3 bhp on the rollers with a panel filter and cat back exhaust system, on the same rollers it did 283.5 bhp with the a panel filter and a decat, no tweak in the map. He was told by his mapper Andy Forrest, a very well know tuner that a cat on a turbo petrol car restricts it massively, compared to a diesel with the cat taken out you may gain 2-3bhp if your lucky. Diesel tuning is completely different to petrol tuning. You look on most petrol engines forums and they will go on stages, you go on most Diesel engines forums and all you will find is a remap and it's reached it's limits.

Stock hardware is good for 170bhp and 300+lbsft. Problem 1 is clutch can't cope with the protential torque available.

Replace the clutch and the next bottleneck is the turbo which you will need a FMIC.

Depends on your priorities. If you want s little more overtaking oomph on the motorway and a degree of comfort, simply remap it and consider a RARB. (<£400)

If you want genuine fast road performance start looking at brakes/suspension/bigger turbo/remap/FMIC/clutch (at least). At this point you'll be either wanting more power or better brakes or both, so again, double your budget. LOL.

Sprry to hijack,

I have a K&N panel, PD160 intake and a Milltek cat back. Non engine related I also have a RARB and Front Strut fitted. I'm looking towards a remap at Shark for around 170bhp.

My question is, would I benefit from a Decat and FMIC before the remap? Also does the clutch need to be uprated for these figures?

how far are you planning to take the car power wise? if your just staying to 170bhp then i wouldnt bother spend the money on clutch/decat/fmic. if your planning 200+ then turbo/fmic/clutch will be worth the 2k your going to be spending

mines going back in to get the map tweaked for the 150 turbo, haven't got an intercooler yet either :( only reason it's getting done is because I'm doing York drag strip in 2 weeks and I'm hoping it'll last up the quarter without getting too hot fingers crossed !
