A/C compressor clutch

Featured Replies

I'm having trouble with my a/c on my 2000 octavia. I take it from my fault code its a bad earth, but I can't find it. I've looked under the battery and followed the wiring from the compressor, nothing obvious.
Is there any known trouble spots or am I reading the DTC wrong?

It's usually a faulty fan controller. That fault code alone wouldn't stop the a/c from working, but the engine speed would drop when you switch on the a/c.

Check the fuses on top of the battery.

Does the radiator fan come on when you switch on the a/c?

Thanks for the reply. The engine speed drops, but the fans don't come on, although they're working because I allowed it to idle until the fan kicked in for a minute and then switched off.

I checed the fuses on the batt, all okay. I checked the power at the compressor its 9.odd volts,

Checked the nut on the clutch plate for loosness or splines, all okay.
