Track Day Insurance

Featured Replies

Does anyone out there have any recommendations for track day insurance cover. I'm not covered under my existing car policy, so would like to take out extra cover just in case.

As an aside what sort of cover should I get for a trackday? Are you covered just for writting your car off, are you covered if someone else wipes out your car?

I'm going to donnington next Friday, with the trackday cost covered by my boss (he wanted to take his M3 on the track and kindly offered to pay for his employees to go as well). :D

So as I'm not paying to do the trackday I don't mind stumping up some cash for insurance, I'm hoping to pay around

its a waste of time paying 150+ for 1 day of cover usually with min 1000 xs.... tbh unless you are a nut youwill be unlikely to damage at all let alone over 1500 quids worth.

The other view is that as there is no 3rd party liability on track, if someone crashes into you or makes a mistake that forces you to spin into the armco (or worse), they can walk away leaving you with the bill.

I've used Competition Car Insurance as well for this doomsday scenario and found them very helpful on the sales side. This was additional to my own road policy which theoretically covered me on track.

At the end of the day all insurance costs and provides extra peace of mind if things go wrong.

Rob, agree with what you are saying but has anyone actually hit you? ive heard of it on "max power" type days but not on any of the professional days ive been on.. they seem pretty tight on the dangerous driving front. Its also worth checking if the track cover includes your car being runon slicks... many dont which i why i dont bother with it.
