Octavia 1U Remote Key Programming

Featured Replies

Hi All

i have an 02 octavia and the and remote central locking has stopped working, its a 2 button key, it still starts the car fine. I have a spare key and it works fine,  anyone know how to reprogramme the key for the central locking??

thanks

If it worked before it should not need re programming, have you replaced the battery in the key?

yes put new battery in, i know there may be a problem with the key but would like to try programming it first

I guess you will need to find an independent or a key specialist for reprogramming, VCDS doesn't program keys.

I herd that programmed keys cannot reprogrammed again....

From memory, I think that to re-sync the key fob you need to put one key in the ignition, tun it on and then use the key that needs to be resynced to manually lock and unlock the drivers door. Then press the remote buttons to lock the car.

Once you have done this and removed the other key from the ignition the remote buttons should work.

I have done this before (assuming that I have remembered it correctly) and it worked for me when I bought a 3 button key.

The remote and battery are nothing to do with the immobiliser chip in the other half of the key with the blade attached.

Plenty guides on youtube although I think the above sounds about right...

I reprogrammed a Fabia one onto my Octy last week, very straightforward!!

I have a 3 button key that is now surplus to requirements to as I part-exed the car with its original 2 button keys.....

Wrong! VCDS does program keys. You don't need SKC to program remotes with VCDS but you need the SKC to program transponders to the immob

remotes can be repeatedly programmed to any car that uses the same part number remote. It's the immob transponder chip that can't be programmed to other cars unless the transponder has come from a VAG with immo1 system & is being programmed to another VAG with immo1 system

Resurrecting an old post here what happen if the drivers door lock has been de locked? how do you re-sync?

I just program a spare key I had.I follow the instructions on the video and the key worked fine except for the tailgate unlock that didn't work.

Sent from my GT-I9505 using tapatalk 4!

Have you tried using the boot lock instead of the drivers door lock?

P.S

Delocking the drivers door is totally pointless and more trouble than its worth. imho.

Why do you think its pointless out of interest as I still have the buts to put it back to standard? Good idea about the boot though hadn't thought of that. Will also change batteries as well

it has to be the drivers door lock. Unless you have VCDS then you don't need to use the door lock. You just do it with VCDS

Because the remote locking stops working on the drivers side door on a lot of octavias because of water getting in.If that happens and theres no manual lock on the drivers door you're have to open it using the boot.

P.S If your fobs not working and you've delocked it how have you been unlocking it,with the boot lock?

Locking it using the other fob. I have VCDS lite will that program the key?

VCDS lite should do it but it'll have to be a registered copy I think.
