  1. I had the radio etc out to check on the aerial cable at the rear of the head unit but now it doesnt seem to want to go in all the way? Any insight on how to solve this?
  2. Is the possible without removing the bumper - just curious as I read somewhere it was and the instructions demand removal of half the car...
  3. You shouldn't need to pair it, but you will have to have it set to the Skoda version. When you switch it on if you hold your finger on the top left hand corner of the screen for 10 seconds it should give you the option to reset it to factory settings (if its a Skoda version) , perhaps this also works for the Seat/Up versions. You can re-install the software using a 8GB(?) sd card I believe. The instructions are on the net somewhere. Sorry I cant help more than that but give it a go.
  4. Where would the signal booster be at the aerial end or the radio end? Will try the factory reset and the other easy things first
  5. Is there a recommended replacement for the aerial base , or is it best to stick with the Genuine one. My radio reception is very poor and I have heard its normally the base/corrosion/earthing?
  6. I have had this apart to look at whether I could remove some deep screen scratches. Eventually is seemed to be working again after a few false starts but I now have a problem in that the touch screen doesn't respond correctly. I have tried a hard reset but when i get to the language page I cant select anything. When I do another hard reset I get the moving cross hairs to recalibrate the touch screen but these seem to move no matter where i touch the screen . I have downloaded the North_Europe zip file from Skoda Updates but this does not install even though I have followed the instructions to the letter. Getting frustrated with it now - any ideas? Update - Ok - so I followed the instructions too literally and copied the zip file across to the Micro SD rather than extracting and copying so I got a little further, but as my screen isn't calibrated I can't press the "yes" button to say begin device recovery?
  7. Me too - A&N Whites Service and MOT Station is the garage in question. Andy is a bit of a wizard on all things gearbox wise. He was insulted when I asked if he would be ok to rebuild my Syncro Drive line . I may yet get him to drop the oil out of the box as a precaution and find out what his view is. I will report back. In the meantime the seats are proving to be challenging but gradually giving up the litres of fizzy drinks, pixie dust and crayons added as accessories over the last 7 years! Any suggestions on cleaning product? I have used Autoglym in the past ?
  8. Already bought it - I am sure it will be fine . if not I know an excellent gearbox man....he has rebuilt the Syncro Transmission in my Transporter so that will be a doddle!
  9. Hello All, I am a long time member having owned a Gen 1 Octvaia a while back ,bought for £300 and sold for £700 happy days. Having family grown up a bit now , we needed a second car as my daughter will be a learner next year. My neighbour was selling a 2013, SE ASG with 46k on the clock so it seemed logical to buy it (semi distressed WeBuAnyCar type sale). Questions as follows: 1 . Superchips upgrade from 60 to 75BHP - worth doing for £249? 2. PID Map updates - any advice/free downloads etc 3. Cruise retrofit - worth doing? Happy to have a bash myself as I have VCDS Lite and cable 4. Door mirror surround - can you get on its own as one is missing? 5. Cleaning seats - they had two young girls and as my wife said it looks like someone has been killed in the car. All the seats heavily stained. I was going to Vax it and see where that gets me as it had seat covers fitted when we bought it. 6. Centre console lid is broken (ashtray?) worth fixing or get and arm rest? 7. PID Screen had some tasty deep scratches - any tried and tested methods to remove? Any other gems? I am ok with a spanner and have used the VCDS a few times on Passats/Seats and the Old Octavia - happy to help others if they need any code reading but don't profess to being an expert.
  10. Didn't whitep lose his engine soon after this? Not saying it was due to the remap but it happened pretty close to his posting . Might be worth getting in touch to get an update. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  12. The other half lost confidence with the Octavia when the turbo pipe came loose so she has new owners as of last night. As a result I have a few leftover bits that I want to sell but I am not a Freedom member and it doesn't really make sense to sign up solely for this purpose. Will the mods mind I post them up here? I don't want to upset anyone as the forum has been really helpful to me over the last 10 years. I have new door foils, a Haynes , some sun visors etc
  13. The lights on buzzer started working for the first time in my ownership . Micro switches? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  14. I checked the passenger side connector and it looked fine. I will get round to the driver side tomorrow. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
