Duplicitous Fuel Gauge

Featured Replies

Today my Yeti deceived me :@

Idling along the A19 this afternoon I was given the usual "bong" to remind me of the impending requirement of fuel....65 miles remaining.  No more than 10 miles afterwards, pootling along at 70mph (of course) Yeti engine essentially switched off, still showing that I had 60 miles range.

Fearing the worst I called (& simultaneously joined) the AA who took me to the service station no more than a mile up the road where I stuck £10 unleaded in the tank.....problem solved!

I therefore brimmed the tank & off we went........thing is I only put a total (including the £10) of 46.2 litres in, therefore can't help but think there's something else wrong!

Any ideas anyone??!!!!

How old is your car?

The car uses the mpg to work out range.

When either the range or remains litres drop below the settings listed in the manual it will trigger the light.

However if the car later recalculates mpg to be better, this can cancel the warning for a short while.
