CAM belt / water pump change.

Featured Replies

Evening everyone,

I have just been quoted £290 +vat (£360 total) for a new CAM belt and water pump on my Octavia TDi estate. This seems quite steep as I have since sourced the parts for a fraction of the price. Would REALLY appreciate some advice.

Cheers,

Paul

That's a good price. Typically dealers are charging £400ish

Very good price if Im honest....

Make sure that you're comparing like for like.  That quote may turn out to be for a cam belt kit which includes tensioners, rollers and renewing the coolant.  What parts have you priced up?

If that's fully inclusive parts wise then I'd say that's a fair price for the Octy.

Thanks for the advice gents, it turns out I had sourced only the individual CAM belt and not the whole kit. Garage also put on a new drive belt. So, as it turns out the price is very good. Thanks again to all the above for your advice. Priceless.

On a lighter note, she drives a lot sharper now!!

Cheers,

Paul.
