Odd Aircon Issue

Featured Replies

Hi all.

My Aircon unit has just started to play up and hums/vibrates (can feel it a bit when clutch is down).

The strange bit is that it only does this when it's on AUTO. When it's on ECON it's absolutely fine. I'm guessing I may have had this issue a while ago, but having only used ECON over the summer, it's only become apparent until now.

Any ideas what this might be?

Thanks,

First off, when the aircon's in "Econ" mode, it isn't aircon, because the compressor and chiller are disabled.

Accordingly, if you've got vibration now in Auto it's most likely the compressor.

Ah right, thanks for this info. I really hope it's not the compressor, otherwise looking at a big bill?

Mine had started making a whining noise that was quite annoying. After two trips to the dealer they finally admitted they could hear it and have ordered a new compressor under warranty.
