how yeti compares to suzuki grand vitara?

Featured Replies

Just stumbled upon suzuki dealer today and I have to say that suzuki grand vitara looked very nice, especially that 3 doors version.

It is also comparable in price and size to yeti, so I am wonder what is yours opinions about this car. Both have nice AWD system which I am after and good reliability.

thanks

What Car gives the Yeti 4stars and the Suzuki Grand Vitara 1 star. No contest really. I suggest you read the reviews at www.whatcar.com

Don't read What Car? reviews, they are terrible. In this case though, there really is no comparison. The GV is agricultural compared to the Yeti. However, the new Suzuki S-Cross may well compare favourably.

I had a grand vitara several years back. Bought it brand new, traded it in six months later.

I hated it. It felt cheap, plasticky, awful.

Never again!

Well What Car got it right for the Yeti and for the 4 Octavias I had before that!

Autocar scores it 3.5 to the Yeti and 3 to the Grand Vitara.

Top Gear gives the Yeti 8/10 and the GV 3/10. Still not much of a contest.

ok, thanks - so I don't think about suzuki anymore then...

although from all cars reviewers I found only consumer reports not being biased towards some brands.

There are loads of these compare threads about how does a Yeti measure up to? and what is better, a Yeti or a ...?

Quite frankly we need to put it to bed, a Grand Vitara is dire, dull and has no place being compared to a Yeti.

So altogether now, Yeti is the best.

The GV is quite dated now and won't compare well at all.

The new SX-4 S-Cross is more promising.

The top spec 4WD diesel has pretty much every bit of kit as standard and costs about £24k list but is still only £30 to tax.

I'm off to the launch next thursday for a look.

That is one hideous looking vehicle. Of course, as ever, this is subjective...

Much as i am a Suzuki fan, i would have to question getting a 3 door GV.

What were you looking at a 1.6 or a 2.4?  Did you look at the MPG that is given which really is unattaineable,

then the Emissions and VED

Maybe some sense in looking at a 5 door 1.9 diesel if that was what suited your needs.

The New Suzuki Swift 1.2 AWD seems to be a real bargain for what it is,

it would be good if they maybe extend the engine choices for it.

I own a 3dr Grand Vitara and you really have to want one to own it. The boot is about the size of an inflated teabag and access to the back is on par with pushing a 12 stone Mastiff through a car flap. I own the 2.4 petrol whish alleges around 166bhp but somehow manages to connect all that power through an 'Apple map' transmission system that means that most of those horses get lost on the way to the wheels. It drinks like it's just eaten burning charcoal brickkets and the 5 speed gear change is on par with Mark Thatcher for finding its way around the gate. Mine had around 19,000 on it when I got it and the first thing that was done to it was to fix the gear change linkage and bushes and even then it feels like arm wrestling an angry wet loofah.  Oh and the plastics are made from recycled bits of those tiny white tea stirrer wands.

But it does look cute in a proper 4x4 way, has decent ground clearance, a sort of proper 4x4 chassis (well a bit of a bodge of one :D) and has not only has a centre diff lock but a low ratio box. So the bottom line is it actually can do a bit of proper off roading, probably a bit more than a Yeti could and certainly more than you would want to in a nice plush Yeti. I love it, but it isn't easy to live with and is certainly no way as easy to Get on with as my old 4x4 Sedici

Any review in any newspaper / magazine is purely personal to the reviewer & as shown the reviews vary wildly.

Just ask anyone on brisky what they think of a particular car that you're thinking of buying & you will get 101 different view, with a few repeats in there.

These types of post are useful for discussion, but for purchase i would always goto the specific forum & review from actual drivers.

The bonus of Brisky is you dont get agitated/angry reviews, just opinions :D

Well, not often, anyway :giggle:

Why go for a car like a Yeti, when you could just get a Yeti?

Bless...  I see Zorro has been banned.  So it was Offnote all over again...  what a way to lead a life eh?  Gets banned again and again and again and yet he still has this compulsion to come back?  WHY?!
