Tomorrow is the day when I am picking up this:

And I am really excited! But since I hate rust and live in a rust promoting sh...y climate I first did this to it:

Hope you enjoyed!

Nice colour! Where in Denmark do you live, since you need extra rust protection? I remember asking my dealer about extra undercarriage treatment (we have a lot of salt on our roads during the winter months), but the dealer said that the car had a special coating from the factory that protects against rust.

Yes, galv. That won't last forever though. Waxoyl type stuff is the best thing to use providing there's no dirt or water between it and the metal, which of course there won't be as the car is new

Good job :)

All of Denmark has a fairly high humidity, and nearly all our roads are salted during winter, so if you're planning to keep your car more than 3-4 years getting an undercarriage treatment is always a good idea.

The west coast is supposed to be worse than anywhere else though!

I didn't think Norwegians used salt? if temp goes near -17°C (0°F for you imperials ... ) you're screwed with salt on the road (actually I think you'll be worse off than without, cause you'll have half water half ice)! below -18/19 and its just a waste of salt.

If you're worried about it I think you should have it done (I am getting mine treated as well!) especially if you live in an area that uses salt! Just one treatment from new is supposed to help dramatically!

Might be smart to make an extra treatment on the car ... The cars that come to Sweden to have good corrosion resistance.

If you read what the "experts" writing so there should be an additional treatment after about 4-5 years.

You have the same kind of climate as the Swedish west coast (Tex. Gothenburg) where I know many, they often complain that cars will rust if you do not take care of your car during the winter.

Congratulations on a great looking car and color

How about more pics of the car rather than the rust-proofing? :P

You wouldn't believe the amount of road salt that is used over here. Especially on the main roads where plowing at high speed is dangerous. There has been a lot of debate since the salt destroys flora and fauna around the roads and the freshwater sources near the salted roads - as well as motor vehicles. I'll ask my dealer again when I'm finally able to pick up the car.

Thanks All,

Thought I would add some more pictures showing the colour in daylight. The Lava Blue colour changes appearance dramatically depending on the light it is exposed to. Some times the car almost looks green - but mostly it is dark blueish. I would recommend everybody that lives in a place whit road salt to give the care a treatment from new. It is unbelievable how effective, it is if done properly. I have compared 5 year old cars with and without treatment and the difference is huge. And as a bonus, the waxoil stuff dampens plate vibrations i.e. road noise!
