Octavia II Sat Nav Updates

Featured Replies

Evening.

My sat nav was woefully out of date when I bought this car on a 13 plate and customer service agreed to update it by supplying the part via SD card.  Unfortunately every SD card inserted into the Amundsen+ simply says SD Card Error and several have been tried by the dealer.

I was told today that the car was "partially updated but things are still being looked at".  I checked the menu to see what version the data was at and it hasn't changed at all - I'm also uncertain how they would have updated anything given that the SD slot won't read anything put into it.  Today was my 4th visit and I've rather lost faith that they actually know what they are doing and how to update it at all.

Has anyone else seen a similar problem with the SatNav system?  I believe that if the card reader doesn't work then the whole unit needs to be replaced as it doesn't seem to be a separate component.  I am giving them the car again next Thursday but am thinking of insisting that the SatNav is now replaced with one that accepts SD cards without fault.  It would be useful to have any advice or experience here to help buttress my case.  This has now been going on for approx. 3 months (I am away with work quite often so it's not easy to keep taking the car there).  The data shows as

Navigation data: version

0038

Navigation data: data medium

EUR_W_0038

Thanks for any assistance.

I've got the same data version etc on my 62 plate Blackline. It's due it's first service next month so I'll be having a word with the dealer as I'm led to believe that it should have shipped with an updated version - most of the other Blacklines have the v4 mapping installed.

Chappers, I have the same version as detailed above in my Blackline and I wouldn't be surprised if we all have the same version. I was told that my dealer would update it but the sales guy has left now. All the websites do not have the update on them for our headunits. Brownfox spent some time with his dealer about updates and they backed out after promising him an upgrade, even SUK don't have the upgrade.

The plot thickens! There was a post on here somewhere (I can't be bothered to trawl through or search at the moment) and several Blacklines were showing V4 mapping on the Amundsen+ unit apparently. I must admit, I would have thought that as mine was one of the last of the original "500" then it would have the latest version at the time.

I'm not particularly bothered at the moment - certainly not enough to travel the 2 miles to the dealer - so I'll just have a word with them when I eventually book it in for it's service (have I really had it nearly a year already?). If there is an upgrade available - great. If not then I've not lost out on anything over what I've already got.

I know it's mad as my Blackline will be a year old on the 1st October and has 15K on it. I know that the MK3 has an Amunsden in it so that's maybe where the confusion is coming from as this can be upgraded by downloading the file off the Skoda website.
