35mm drop pics? (non-vrs or 10mm vrs drop)

Featured Replies

Just wondering if anyone has some pictures of a standard octavia with a 35mm drop. I think this equates to about 10mm on a VRS. Seen a good deal on Koni Sports + matched 35mm lowering springs, just a tad worried it will be too low for me. I already catch my wrecked front bumper on kerbs :( It is broken to be fair though!

So I only just realised 35mm is really rather small :)

Still interested in some pictures though!

Looks nice. :giggle:

Now I just gotta grab a few tools like some decent spring compressors, a breaker bar (just in case) and the hub nut expander and I'm ready to go. Hopefully it won't be too complicated!

the front for me was the worst when trying to get the bottom of the coilover to go into the hub carrier, rear was a doddle, once your done and take the car out for a run you'll notice the difference right away.

Cheers sesahc. I've replaced roll bar bushes, top mounts and drop links on the front so I can appreciate the front is going to be a pain. I found a good video from raceland on youtube that has a great set of steps for changing the mk4 golf platforms suspension so will be following that :)

Correct 35mm = 10mm on a VRS (if you compare a none VRS)

Replacing suspension is generally very easy, certainly on these cars. Just plan for few rusty, tight bolts and spray up the Hub/Strut bolts up over night or when first job started  to penetrate.

Getting a hub separater tool  or use of a large flat screwdriver or similar is handy to allow hub to drop down when you have compressed the coil springs.

There are loads of guides on the VW forums

Cheers for the words of wisdom bowders. V. good point on the pentrating spray over night, I hadn't thought of that. I've done 90% of the front bar the hub nut, as long as the bolt by that isn't welded in place I should be good :)

No worries you are welcome.

This is a good guide on MK4 forums for removal of std suspension and the car has same drop links as yours so a exact guide buddy.
