Difference with 1.9 tdi engines

Featured Replies

Had a quick question, I was out last night with some car mates and a friend of mine has an octavia with a 1.9 TDI engine

Its a pd 105

I wondered if it was the same as the fabia engine? other than turbo and injectors etc?

The only reason that I ask is that his engine was really quiet and smooth and mine sounded completely different.

Not exhaust note but actually the noise of the engine.

When revved mine was very loud and sounded kind of rough.

They are the same engine m8.. in my experience the BXE 1.9tdi 105bhp are noisier + sound rough..

Do you have your undertray + engine cover on?

Also if its an octavia and same as a golf they have extra sound deadening under the bonnet skin.. fabias dont :)

Also check your oil level etc :)

I test drove a 1.9PD Octavia a while ago and my 1.9PD Fabia is a bit like a tractor in comparison. Same engine, just the Octavia is a much more refined platform when it comes to engine noise/vibration transmission into the cabin.

So it should!......new, the Octavia costs a lot more the Fabia.

Yeah I have the cover and under tray on.

I think I do need to service it. Perhaps some fresh oil will make it quieter.

The precious owner had something done to the air box... Is there anything I can do to that to make it quieter?
