Fabia MK1 Front Fogs - question about switch

Featured Replies

Hi there,

My friend's Skoda Fabia has gone for a pre-MOT check and come back with a warning that the front fogs can't be switched on - the switch doesn't have the function.

Now it's pretty obvious that it must have been in a little bump in the past and the replacement bumper has come with fogs.  What is the likely scenario that Skoda include all the wiring harnesses in the cars with/without fogs both at the front of the car and near the switch meaning that if we simply get a switch with front fogs it'll just work?

Or is it more likely that we should just rip out the fogs and put in blanks?

Thanks for your help

Dan

P.S. It's a pain as he lives a bit away and I can't see the car for a bit!  Otherwise I'd be under there now!

Just take them out ,then when it's pass put them back in.

Front fogs AFAIK aren't needed anyway

I am sure it's only rear fogs that are included in an MOT,

I have removed my front fogs, as the pipework for the old intercooler I had wouldn't fit if they were still in, and it passed an MOT no bother. No blanking plates either just two holes haha

Cant say for the fabia (therefore probably useless post!!) but i had a mk3 golf cabriolet and added frong fogs, just bought the lamps, and the replacement switch, all wiring was already in the car.

If they are unplugged and the fogs are round, you may be able to access the area by just pulling the side front grilles forward to remove, you should then feel the wiring looms. If not just undo the front inner wing 3 or 4 torx fasteners and prise the plastic inner away, shine a torch in and you will see the connectors.

DB.

I thought fogs are not tested on the mot as not every car has them.

Front fogs and reverse lights arnt checked and will not fail an mot.
