To be fare I don't no a lot about the car i didn't meet the last owner all I no is he traded it in on a supra found a receipt for remaps and rollin roads but nothing else inter cooler is standard I think it's just seein that boost gauge right round is a bit worrying but down 2000 mile with no boost issues just bloked oil strainer and a slipping clutch both of Witch are sorted

Sounds like it will be merraly be melting your exhaust housing and front pipe then if you have standard exhaust pushing out that much boost

That's what I'm worried about I no it's bin tuned by jbs auto designs in derby I've rang them twice about the car and there very unhelpful I think it's bin this way for the last 40 k goin on these receipts and rolling road receipts what sort off pressures should it be running with remap etc thanks

I think I need to compare my exhaust turbo etc with a standard unit. I would have thought it would have blown by now if everything was standard this is the first auq engined car I've had and am not familia with with this set up and the manifold etc is very hard to see think ill take a ride to the scrap yard and have a good look and compare

I don't no anyone with a vrs

Any info would be much appreciated I've just spent 600 quid on parts for this car and the misses will kill me if I have to spend more lol

If its phase one it should be about 18psi i think. Are you sure its not a dodgey gauge or it might have an uprated sidemount cooler and a downpipe. You need to check it out

Whats the power on the rr print out?

  • Author

It levels out at about 17-18 psi it's only reaching 22 when under load lower revs 3rd 4th gears I'm gonna have a real good goin over it I wanna make sure all pipes inter cooler etc are clean no leaks etc

Ain't got the print out just payment invoices for phase 1 custom code and rolling road sessions so I don't no what it's putting out but it's killing everything round my way

And I already replaced the boost gauge so it's defenatly right

Is the gauge plumbed in correctly? My VRS is stage 1 with CAI and while it will give a lower powered scooby a good run from a moving start its not exactly mega fast and without a front mount i suffer from killer heat soak.

I just copied the original how u got yours fitted

Another thing it seems to run out of steam about 6ooo rpm my mate got a 225 bhp golf and it leaves it standing it eat the standard clutch for breakfast to it just worries me a bit cause I don't want it to go bang

I dont have a boost gauge im afraid. If its running out of puff there maybe a vac leak as mine did this, once all vac pipes were replaced it goes right upto the redline

Thats because it's mapped, it can hold 10 psi(standard) all day long, but they can't hold 20, it should peak at around 20 then drop back slowly to around 12-14. Its only a little turbo so doesn't hold much high up the rpm.

These are rough figures of course as each map is different.

Ok it's done 40k on these pressures so if it was gonna go I think it would have happen by now and I fitted the boost gauge T peice just below the fuel pressure regulated ?

What's the best way to adjust boost pressure on this car I have a brand new under bonnet adjust boost controller? I think the cars about 240 bhp mark goin on my the performance of my old Saab 2.0 turbo thanks for all the info u guys have given me I'm starting to get an idea on the set up of this engine

Yeah 20 is doable, but only as a peak figure I don't think they can hold it for long. the FPR line is fine for a boost gauge.

As for adjusting it manually I wouldn't bother as it ain't gonna go much higher than that, let the map/ecu deal with it, it's safer that way.

Not like old car where you turn boost up it goes quicker !! You turn boost up the likely good is it will go bang !!

As for 240 with your boost pressures sounds like a standard stage 1 so about 205 bhp

I was thinking of turning the boost down the trouble is i dont no what's bin done to this car ill have a good look at it gonna replace all the hoses and manifold down pipe Miltec cat and cat bk maybe inter cooler starting with breather hoses as oil breather is in a real bad way do u no where the best cheapest place for hose kits

You need to get the car logged and checked by someone that knows these cars this will then give you a good account of any issues and what power it's running etc etc

Without doing the above you will be chasing your tail !!

Where are you in uk, sure there is somebody with a vrs not far away
