Cannot connect to ECU via Diagnostic port

Featured Replies

As title. Recently purchased '53' plate VRS. EML has come on, I have to too read with a MC OBD11/EOBD hand held dianostic tool but cannot connect. I have also hooked up to VAG diagnostic equipment and also cannot connect. (Work at Audi). I have checked all relevant fuses and nothing gone. Car has no running issues but still want and need to now whats caused EML to come on. Any help/point in right direction would help.

Cheers

Luke

Sounds like a wiring issue for the diagnostic socket - so I would check wiring first - at least then you might be able to read off some fault codes.

Check the Kline cable is connected at the back of the obd port. Also check connections on ecu, any bent pins.

Not got an aftermarket headunit in as has it? Issues with the K-Line?

Beat me to it, turn radio off and see if it connects then, the electric aerial output on aftermarket radios put a 12v feed to obd socket where it shouldn't have one

Ah yes, that old chestnut, cost me two VCDS leads that did :(

They can't have been genuine VCDS leads as these are thermally protected against shorts.

Thanks for setting me straight. I live and learn.
