312 mm upgrade

Featured Replies

Hi all,

firstly thanks for all the useful information I have found on here for the last 2 years.  I have only just signed up.  I have just purchased the 312 mm set up off a fellow member.  However need the discs and pads still, is there an exact car I can quote to get the correct parts?  Current spec shark stage 1, cupra bushes and ap springs and dampers on order (from dpm performance)

Thanks dan

I went on eBay and got a reg for a 25th annivercary golf and used that for discs and pads.

Thanks that is a good idea.

99'-05' Audi TT's with 312x25 discs, mtec drilled and grooved discs and Montez pads on eBay for 84.99.

Ebay and grab an octavia vrs reg and pop it into cp4l

Pagid discs are a good price so are pads

Also are the caliper bolts the same length and size as the upgraded ones? As the larger calipers haven't came with any bolts . Thanks

Same bolts mate yes

Great thanks :)

My mtec discs have died, I haven't had them fitted very long and I don't drive particularly hard!

That's not so good, I was thinking about getting a set.

When I brake there's just so much cabin noise it's now annoying, sound like an aeroplane trying to stop!

I might drop them a message and see what they have To say about it.

IMO drilled and grooved are more for aesthetics. I think they also wear out pads quickers as there's more abrasion on the pads. Better off using smooth discs and a good quality brake fluid with a higher boiling point.

Mtec discs are mega poop. Mine had heat cracks and stresses after 4 month. I dont drive hard, it mainly commuting with the odd spirited drive

Now upgraded to cg motorsport discs and ebc redstuff pads(y) all is well

Yeah, mtec haven't replied to my messages..... Simply expressing my dissatisfaction.

Mine were exceedingly loud compared to my new ones now i think of it. Never realised until you mentioned it then.

Id bin em personally (y) from an unhappy previous owner/user

Am I missing something with the bolts as they seem too short ?

The 288 carrier bolts should be fine for the 312's

Me and my mate tried earlier but bolts appeared to short so rebuilt old brakes

  • Author

The carrier ones are fine it the caliper bolts which appear too short ?

Shouldn't be too short. I re used all my old bolts on the 312 kit

me too

any idea where I am going wrong then? Thanks dan

Try and fit everything without the discs and pads to see everything lines up.

Post pictures as well, might see something obvious straight away.

Yeah thanks I tried that, that's how I realised the bolts which hold the caliper to the carrier are too short. Would post pic but the bolts are back on the car lol
