Some manufactures are looking to stop in car cd systems

The new Kia Soul 2014 model released in the USA Has a big 8 inch led screen

Using some android  system and you have the choice of your own apps

Reading somewhere i saw in a report this system could come in over the next 10 years

The 6 disc Bolero is waisted in our Yeti, as I'm not a great listener of music when driving and if I do then radio or SD card. Wish Amunsden had been an option when we ordered, would have got far more use out of it; the Bolero spends almost all it's time connecting with the phone and park sensors :giggle:

I agree with Tim. My SE plus was loaded with 6 CDs on day of purchase......don't think I've ever played more than few tracks.

The CD slot takes up valuable centre dash space, limits dash design and being mechanical/electronic is high in cost to produce and maintain.....it's days are very limited....and rightly so

I read months ago that Ford want to rid themselves of the CD

I think in a few short years your car will recognise your digital device (phone) and replicate or display in on screen according to your preference etc.

Many changes will then follow....toll charges straight to you digital wallet....probably linked by ANPR and other I'd

I have never put a CD in the Yeti, all music is on SD card, more than happy to loose the CD player provided that there is a SD/USB/MDI connection.

Pioneer, Kenwood, Alpine and many others already offer this functionality.

Even my Kenwood 1Din unit will allow me to listen to any of my music apps from my iPhone.

I also would have been happy not to have even a single CD player let alone the 6 CD changer - mine has never seen a CD since i bought the car so its just deadweight and something else to potentially go wrong (although if I don't use it I guess I'll never know whether it is working or not). I have a well stocked SD card in the slot but most of the time it's the radio and even then just one or two stations.

Seems odd when you have you make a positive decision to buy a spare wheel or TPM you have to have the CD changer.
