Have you checked the gasket between the downpipe and turbo yet?

Also it sounds like a duck is trapped in there, have you checked that too lol

No duck a mechanic friend that worked for vw thinks from the vid it sounds like a pipe

Have you had the belt off yet to check all moving parts?

Took belt off today guys and alternator moves freely but i can slightly hear bearings gringing inside but all other pulleys move fine with no noise. So am i right in thinking alternator?

Try running it with the belt off first

Did it and the noise wernt there well i dont think it was as it wasnt under pressure might take it off and drive it then and see what crack is tmoro

If that is the case then it has to be something related to one of the spinning parts, check for play and any dry noise, if it is the alternator making noise replace it and take it from there

It is not anything running on the pulleys as i just took belt off and took for a drive and the noise is still there so its either a gasket or a pipe leak

Or something timing belt related, but at least you've ruled out aux belt parts.

I was trying to avoid that option thanks for putting it in my head lol

Not a good noise mate sounds like an air leak to me. The noise is as the pressure is released so I'd be looking after the DV or associated pipe work. Just my 2 cents.

As it goes a mechanic from vw saw the vid and suggested air leak so possibility jst how to find it

Disconnect the DV vac pipe (the small 1 on the top) if the noise goes its either the DV or the pipe from the turbo to the DV. I think that's right someone will correct me I'm sure.

Great stuff ill give it a crack tmorro thank you

Well disconnected the dv pipe but noise was still there so i guess if that was a right test then the boost pipes are all good so back to gaskets it is

Could be the DV if the diaphragm is weak it could be leaking and not holding boost. Do you know any one you could swap a DVD with just to check.
