Noise behind dash, heating now only "hot".

2006 Octavia 1.9 TDi.  I had a noise like a motor wirling behind the dash especially when going into reverse.  Now the noise has gone, the heating only blos hot and the fuse for the AC/reversing sensor has operated.

I think this all relates to the dodgy recirculation fan motor.   I have removed the glovebox but now can't get the offending motor out as it is all a bit tight in there and the cover won't seem to come off.  I'm not sure if I need to remove/replace both motors.

I have seen Elsawin on Ebay but it won't run on my PC (64bit Premium Win 7 not Premium or above) and before I get a Haynes manual (which might or might not assist).
