Octy seats

Featured Replies

Hi I'm picking up a set of half leather Octavia seats on Saturday with the plan if fitting to my vrs

The fronts look easy enought to do but little worried on the rears I've read they will fit but need the foam cutting and im after as much help and advice as possible I've looked at other threads but not much on rear seats that I can find

Just wanna check that these fit as donor seats

Mk4 ibiza 53 plate tdi sport 5dr

You getting them from Lancashire by any chance? Its easier than it sounds, once you start taking bits apart it makes more sense.

The rear bases, you need to swap the metal cage/frames over. You'll have to cut away some of the foam on the octy seats to allow the metal work to sit properly. That was just a bit trial and error I found. Keep cutting and testing them in the car til you're happy.

You can take a few different approaches to the uprights. PastyBoy, seanw (?) and myself (to name a few, I know a fair few have done the swap also) have done it a bit different. Pasty got the foam and excess material (along with the headrest holes at the top) retrimmed. Sean cut the foam and screwed the excess material to the metal work at the back. And I just left it lol. It will fit without any adjustment, both the foam and the cover, it's just a bit of a squeeze to fit it in the car. But it does go in fine and operates perfectly. So up to you how you want to do it. You just need to swap the octy foam and covers, onto the fabia/ibiza metal backing plate.

You'll need to cut the leather at the top to line the headrest holes up properly. But it's nothing major.

The one slight niggle I encountered was that the octy head rests were too thick for the holes on the fabia for some reason. Not sure why as I haven't read of anyone else having the same problem. But all you need to do is remove the plastic clips which slot in to the seats and swap them over (hit them from the bottom with a hammer to pop them out, once the foam Is off).

So yeah, good luck!

Yeah what he said :D

The fronts are simple.

take both apart, move the base foam and material over

put the octavia seat back on the fabia meal work

reattach plastic trim

put back in the car

the rear seat bases are exactly as pulse say.

they use a differnet metal work "cage" underneath so you need to trim the foam accordingly.

I just cut slots in to it where the bars needed to run and put nicks in the material edges to wrap around the cage

the small seat back is a simple swap job too

take both apart

put octavia material and foam on Fabai metal work

put back in the car

The large seatback is the one that can cause an issue but pulse has detaile the 3 options

I have an inch trimmed from the foam and material and the whole lot restitched to suit

I then use the material from the redunant central head rest chopped and used to patch the hole which was left after removing the central 3 point belt.

Sam745 actually had the central headrest holder cut off of the octavia metal work and welded on to the Fabia back rest so he could retain it.

His Fabia also had a central over the shoulder belt so didn't need to woprry about patching

A mk4 Ibiza donor should work fine; although if it was me i'd get donors from a Fabia rather than an Ibiza.

That way you know for sure that everythign will 100% definietly do back in.

rather than the tiny naggin doubt that Ibiza metal work might be slightly different

Unless of course the scrappers are good enough to let you size it all up beforehand....

Just another quick 1 can I swap passenger seat base for drivers seat??

its actually much much easier once you start taking it all apart

difficult to visualise it all until you have it infront of you...in pieces :D

Yes you can swap the foam over.

I did that on my recaros - worn outer drivers bolster becomes worn inner passengers bolster
