what's happened to jabba?

Featured Replies

I don't expect those posts were hard to find, given that we are active on several Volvo forums and our US operation concentrates solely on Volvo (and specifically the P1 chassis) at the moment!

It is possible to specialise in more than one thing, as faboka says above, the logic of many of these ECUs is shared. As shocking as it may be, we've even remapped the odd BMW and Mercedes too! Terrible I know!

Some what of an over reaction - calm down

You could state you are an ecu recalibration specialist, or have specialist knowledge of a specific ecu - for example edc16.

I hear what you're saying, but it is possible to specialise in more than one marque.

okay well let's say your looking for a company to service your car- you don't want a dealership but a Skoda / VAG specialist.

Would there not be a distinction between an all makes garage and a skoda/ vag specialist service organisation.

Yes, the skoda/ vag service organisation might take in the occasional all makes car but they have specialist knowledge of skoda/ vag products.

I personally think the whole "I will only go to a specialist" is a little over rated. Especially when we're just talking about a service which is let's face it, replace x and y and then check A through to Z. I've fell into that trap in the past.

To be you want a garage you can trust. Simple as.

I tend to agree about trust but the electronics aspects are becoming increasingly specialist and having good diagnostic kit  important.

I failed to see the over reaction there but there you go....

Shark have expertise in several areas, ECU mapping is only one of them but having tried Revo, jabba, super chips, Celtic tuning and now Shark, I wouldn't be changing back, purely down to the quality of the software. The after sales and pre sales is just the icing on the cake IMO. So can't someone be a specialist in more than one area? I'd suggest that they can as the servicing and mechanical side of things is equally as good and once again probably the best I've experienced. So not only do they specialise in mapping different makes, they also do rather well at things that isnt software related. :)

Your analogy doesn't transfer across I'm afraid. The reason for this has been explained by previous posters already.

There was also no over-reaction that I could see, simply an explanation of how you can specialise in several manufacturers.

The point with specialists is to find someone that will treat your vehicle with the same respect that you would. A popular misconception is used vehicles with full main dealer service history !! Everything at main dealers is done to a time scale. A good point being Octy mk 1 pollen filter change. The dealer will get so many minutes to perform task which isn't long enough to do the job properly. So will go something like this. Ready steady Go ! Rip up scuttle panel snatch out filter through tiny gap. Stuff new filter through gap job done. What about all the leaves and debris and such like that have collected under scuttle I hear you say ? Sorry govnor didn't have time !

The best specialist if you have the skills is yourself !

A few years back when I got my fabia remapped everyone was for jabba sport, they where the best and everyone went there for there for there maps. These days I'm looking into remapping my octavia and not once have they been brought up? Everyone is for shark these days. How come?

In summary I think many posts have highlighted that Jabba have racing and other projects to focus upon.

In fact Kevin did apologise the Jabba section about there forum presence.

Many forums have a lot of hot air talked about guys wanting to improve the performance of their cars that comes to very little - not necessarily Briskoda!
