Apple Device interface unit

Featured Replies

Hi,

Asking on behalf of my dad.

He has recently bought a Skoda Octavia Hatch 2L TDI DSG Elegance.

He has the USB/Aux-in sockets just below the climate control dials.

Can he remove that part and fit the Apple interface unit ( the one that can be spec'd at factory build - think its call Mitsumi?)?

anyone know the part number of this bit? and a place to buy?

Anyone have any other suggestions to using an Ipod/iphone in the car?

Thanks

The car has Bluetooth (I'm pretty sure the Elegance does anyway), that's all he needs isn't it?

If he wants/needs to browse the music on his iPod/phone then no, he'll need the mitsumi interface but I don't have the faintest the idea if it can be retrofitted. I'm sure there was another thread on this.

My iphone works fine with the bluetooth to stream music but aside from skipping back and forward between tracks there is no control over the actual music.

Alternatively if he has a non-bluetooth iPod and doesn't need any control over the music he could use a jack to jack lead in the aux port.

He wants to plug in his Ipod not iphone so no bluetooth on the ipod.

He wants to be able to change/browse the tracks on it so Aux in wont work. So he needsnthe mitsumi device.

Looking at it in the brochure it looks just like the unit below the climate control comes out and the mitsumi sits in its place and the cable from that simply plugs in to the satnav unit? Just need to buy the unit from somewhere!

Would your dad consider using an sd

Card? Retrofitting an aux doesn't sound easy!

He already has an SD card fitted, but ideally he wants to have his ipod connected as it has more music, better layout of songs etc. IMO i dont think the retro fit in place of the other usb/aux in ports.
