Running Amp power through fusebox

Featured Replies

Hi!

I am wondering if any of you know if its possible to run the power cable for the amp through the fuse box instead of directly connecting it to the battery and having to run the cable through the firewall.

I have seen people mentioning of doing this on their VW golfs and passats, but haven't seen any examples.

Any input on the subject is appreciated!

can't see why not. I used Fubars how too too run my front and rear camera's and dropped another cable in at the same time to put a power supply into my boot as well to run a cool box and a power converter my tab or any thing else with a standard plug.

The current requirement for many amps is larger than the biggest fuse the fusebox will take. What fuse rating does the amp require?

Are tehre any downsides of doing the power setup through the fusebox? Shorts/ power drainage or something similar.

That's a 500W MOSFET amp and needs a dedicated feed. There isn't enough spare capacity on the cables feeding the fusebox.

Got ya! Thanks for the feedback! Any easy guides with pictures on how to get the power cable from engine bay to the boot?
