Has anyone cleaned the EGR valve on CR VRS 2.0 TDI

Hi all,

 My motor is fast approaching 50,000 and i just wondered if it was worth cleaning the EGR valve on my CR VRS 2.0 TDI.

Bump. Any skoda tech's got any thoughts on this.

If you've run on non supermarket diesel for those 50k then it will be clean

My old pd bora was run exclusively on she'll diesel for the 107k I had it and it was clean unlike my mates pd polo which was run on supermarket diesel and was totally clogged by 85k.

JRW thanks for your post. PD's are well known for clogging their EGR valves and apparently CR's are better so there is no comparison between engines. What i was asking was has anyone with a CR engine taken theirs off and had a look to see what sort of condition theirs is in before I go off on a fact finding mission.

that was my point. If my pd one was still clean after 100 odd k then the cr will be amazing after 50k.

I have only just bought the car so I don't know what the previous owner ran it on, seems like I might just have to slip it off and take a look if no one has done this before. However if no one has done it before that does suggest that it does not need doing. Now I am just going round in circles.

Sorry to bump this up again but I have recently bought the same model and was thinking of cleaning the EGR. Did you ever do it? and was it clean?

No not yet. I have been busy so its been a low priority because it is not giving any trouble.

It's not really to do with the brand of fuel you run, but the oily vapors from the breather, being pumped back in to be burnt, and coming in contact with the sooty air from the EGR that is heading into the intake.

 

These meet in the EGR and turn into sooty nasty gunk.
