So I'm after some advice I have a vrs with a tx autosport fmic, I have found a hybrid turbo from someone on the forum, however I just want to know If I was to fit the hybrid and map it would it be okay? Anything else worth upgrading? As I've been researching the clutchs slip with the overload of torque, my cars on 117k on a standard clutch how long would this last with a stage one map?

Not long, mine was mapped at 76k and slipped on the rollers on the way out!

What kind of torque can a standard clutch withhold? As you could get a map with less torque?

I have a hybrid turbo on a standard clutch for now, no problems at all and doesn't slip. It has been de-tuned but only very slightly. The mapper was even intrigued as to how well it was holding up :)

It's all down to the way they are driven / pervious owners etc.

That's pretty good to hear tbh, it's only had two owners father and son and a full skoda device history but not sure if it's had a hard life :/ think I'll try it and see what power and torque are you producing?

Another one here still on standard clutch. I have the same/similar hybrid to Dan also de-tuned for now. Had a Shark stage 1 map prior to this, and have never had any problems either. If I'm honest then I do give it some from low revs in 2nd every now and again as well...

Currently around 200bhp and 290ft/lbs.

I have known the car since 28k miles though. I'm on 97k now  :'(

Bloody hell Alex, all those miles and I've only ever seen you once......that wasn't even in the car!

To be honest I haven't been gentle on my clutch with the hybrid, I have booted it from low down and even used the launch control the other day and it's still holding up fine :)

Ah thanks for the advice guys :) what are your current set ups? Hybrid, map, fmic, anything else?

Hybrid PD150, Seat Sport FMIC, Custom exhaust with a de-car. All mapped up then wound back slightly for the standard clutch :)

That's pretty much what I plan on having with out the decat atm :) I have the fmic just waiting on the hybrid and the map, thanks for the help and info btw appreciate it

No worries mate, I would get the cat removed from the standard down pipe. It's a fairly big restriction and will help the turbo spool up quicker. Should only cost about £40 to get it cut out :)

That way the map can be adjusted for a decat as well.

Does your car smoke much Dan? I know mine is relatively smoke free, especially round the track, but I'm not sure if it's down on power. I was going to get it dyno'd on Sunday but they wanted £60 plus VAT!

Not really mate, very clean. The bumper never get sooty or anything. I noticed smoke when I first had it done but it's cleared after a couple of weeks. You sure your map is not just 'holding it back'?

That's a lot of money just for a dyno!

Ha ha yes quite funny that I saw you on one of my bikes! Pretty much knew it was you as soon as I saw your car though!! I should have waved - you would've been right confused for ages!!!

My setup is hybrid PD150, Piper full straight through turbo-back system, egr delete. The clutch was originally going to be the first thing to get done, but then my turbo blew spectacularly, so had to replace that first. Hence it's mapped restrictively at the minute. Plan is Darkside Seat Sport type intercooler and their own pipework, and Helix SMF conversion and clutch.

Yeah thought it was expensive. It could be the map. Not really sure how to test that theory though

Are you up here any time soon? Your welcome to take mine for a drive!

Torque limit the map and it should be OK. Max torque is usually around 2.2-2.5K on the rollers. max power usually around 3.75K so you can have cake and eat it.

Thanks for the offer mate. I've not made any plans yet, maybe in the new year :)

We'll have to arrange a scenic drive or something. I know Karl (Korban)organised one earlier in the year
