two headunits??

Featured Replies

is it possible to do this? i know theres space for a double din unit but what about two single ones? how would the wiring work?? can u buy connectors to 'split' the wires into two separate?

Steve

yes it is but the question woudl be why ? are you thinking of running say a tape and a cd... if so you woudl be better off getting a cd changer and tape HU...

what are you trying to achive?

i know mate, i ask myself the same question, why? but all the music i have is on minidisc, so i wanted a minidisc headunit. got that. but im after a indash dvd player as well. put screens in the headrests ( again, i know, why?). but just want to see if its possible first

If I was doing that I'd buy a head unit that has an auxilliary input (like the sony MP80 that I have now for example) and a DVD player with a line out so you can use the normal HU as an amplifier for your DVDs.

yeah but the dvd player has a screen but in 2.

not quite sure what you mean by that?

but the idea is a sound one and totaly achivable.... you need a box of tricks i cannot pin point the exact one you need but long the lines of whats in the bottom link.... or do a the Dr says and run it from an aux in if your MD player has one or vice versa...

try a post on the car audio direct forum Talk audio you will soon get an answer on there

its cool bengie, i've already got the minidsic installed. my next adventure is the dvd player, but am trying to find out if i can connect them both. confusing i know

Steve

Was thinking the same myself actually. My Sony HU doesnt seem to like the Octy way of working when it comes to radio. Even with the booster it just refuses to hold signal. Was thnking of sticking the original unit un for radio, and I could use the CD changer again then.

maybe your radio is just rubbish. i have had no problem with any stereo in the octavia myself

not got a booster either

Bit of a silly quote isn't it?

It's a Sony (can't remember the model number, something 2200 I think.) and it worked admirably in the Astra Coupe before the vRS.

cheers mate. appreciated

Very tasty MD headunit where did you get it?? I have an older MD HU which is a bit :pants: now. I'm liking the look of yours especially in my silver dream machine

not really, sony isn't exactly high end pro stuff now is it.

if you want real quality in car audio then you buy kenwood/pioneer/alpine/clarion etc, much better quality units. not just my opinion but the opinion of profesionals

...and we're not talking grundig either.

Either way, it works fine in every other car, so you're telling me it's not something specific to the Octavia?

tbh mate i don't understand it as i have run the standard unit, an alpine unit, a jvc unit and maybe another that i have forgotton and all have worked perfectly

mate, going to sound really obvious, but have you connected the aerial? it might have come loose. you can still get a weak signal on the radio if the connector is close to but not connected to the aerial input.

That depends on which one you buy.

They make some cheapo stereos , but plenty of very good ones indeed.

Just as all the other manufacturers make cheapo stereos as well as the good ones as well.
