Hi all my friend has just bought a 53 plate fabia vrs, and when pressing the esp button nothing happens, no lights on dash for it on or off. And when you switch ignition on no esp light. Having a fabia big brother (octy vrs) I would have thought the light would be similar to my asr light. Any help please (with pics if poss) many thanks

Its a 53 plate. And to my knowledge its standard spec to have esp.

All fabias had asr not esp?

All vRS's have ESP. ASR is part of the ESP system.
There should be a triangle surrounded by a round circle on the speedo dial when you turn the ignition on or press the button to turn it off.
Maybe the bulb is out?
A crude but fun way of testing it is pressing the button then trying to get some wheel spin! if it spins its off, try again and if the power dips right down to get grip then its on and you know the button works and its the bulb in the dash.

I was under the impression that this was the other way around, i.e. all vRS Mk1's have ASR, and ASR is part of the ESP system. As ESP is stability protection, hence sorts the car out handling wise, where-as ASR is just plain and simple traction control to help with wheelspin...

As for the original post, I don't have ESP so can't help sorry!! I'd presume it would be the same light for the ASR though, which should light up when the button is pressed.

The Mk1 Fabia vRS has ASR as standard in the UK.

Yes it should do.

 

Have you scanned it to see if there are any fault codes?

Haven't scanned it yet. Haven't got access to vagcom. Have just got a eBay scanner (worked perfect on my octy for fault codes) shall give it a scan with that and see what comes back. Cheers

My bad, ESP was an option. Mine must have it then I thought it was standard.
