Fitting aftermarket stereo and keeping dual climate display?

Featured Replies

He all im going to be upgrading the speakers in my vrs estate in the near future which has the bolero fitted and the dual climate control display which pops up on it when adjusted.

I do have a high level input to rca converter so i can run an amp of the standard stereo, but wouldnt mind fitting a nice aftermarket unit to have loads of other features and wondering if anyone has or knows of a headunit that will still display the climate control when i adjust it?

Hi mate i chucked high level to rca converter in fleabay and about 70 odd results came up. Ended up getting the blue 4 speaker to RCA one.

Only a VAG unit or the kenwood above will display the climate settings on the display

Alpine also offer an add-on box for some of their Double DIN units that shows the climate and parking sensors on screen. Only works with more modern units though so it's not going to be much cheaper than the Kenwood option that is designed for this very reason.

Is the kenwood unit a straight swap to replace a bolero in a FL VRS?

I have a Erisin ES1278T @ £229.82 this has lots of features and has the display for the climate and rear sensors plus has input for rear view camera (which I have) this is a very good unit as far as I can see, I did have one of their older units in my last Octy for two years with no problems. If you want any more info or pics give me a shout

No, not quite... the Bolero is a much bigger unit than most others, so while the Kenwood does just plug into all existing wiring (+ DAB and GPS aerials that need to be added) you'll need a new fascia surround as well, or else you'll have gaps around the side of the Kenwood. The fascia is circa. £50 from dealers.

It's far simpler for other, smaller headunits and you'll find the same problem with any aftermarket unit you buy.
