radio in safe mode but dont have the code?

Featured Replies

Can anyone advise me of the best and easiest way to obtain the code?

The only way I know of is to take it to a dealer.

They have a database they can query.

I think it cost £10-£15, but not sure.

Ok thanks I will enquire.

If your car has convenience radio coding then try this, which is the method to be use with this system:

Make sure the radio of OFF by having the on/off button out. Then turn on the ignition and let the car do its checks. Then switch on the radio. It should come alive within 10 seconds. Mine is an early 03 car and has this system so you may be lucky.

If you don't have convenience radio coding then you will have to get the code from a Skoda dealer as stated above.

I dont think mine has this as I can start the car with the radio off and then turn the radio on after a few minutes and it still displays safe on the radio.

Try it for a bit longer, it took my car a couple of minutes to recognise the stereo when I re-fitted it, that's if it's the original stereo.

Its the stereo that came with the car so I assume it is. Will try after work.

Thanks for all your help.

I just bought the original symphony cd stereo and it came with the code so all works well but every time I turn the ignition off it goes back into safe mode. How do I get the stereo to learn the code?

Ohh didn't look in that much detail

I'd be checking your permanent live connection. ;)

All sorted it needed to be decoded, it does not auto sync with the ECU but the code is required to manually unlock the stereo.

Thanks for the help and advice people, much appreciated.

Neil

how did you decode it?
