Turbo making a strange noise (yes that old chestnut)

Hey!

My turbo is making a weird noise when driving, it sounds like it's supercharged almost when driving along and I'm pretty certain it could be leaking? Although I have absolutely no black smoke, even when accelerating hard.

I can also hear a gushing of air when accelerating, almost like it's escaping from somewhere. I've checked all my boost pipes, one was leaking a bit from the turbo onwards but I've fixed that with heat shrink and it's now solid yet the car is still making this noise.

I can hear the impellers spinning very slowly when I'm on boost ever ever so slightly. Not sure where this noise is coming from?!
