Telematics Quotes

Featured Replies

Yo!

Looking a replacing the trusty Octy with a Scout. Just to get ball-park figures I "went and compared the confused market". One site gives you an insurance quote vs. telematics.

Car quote: £363

Telematics quote £620

Given that the Scout would be used off-road (bumping around on rough terrain etc) and for the odd bit of towing, I think I'll give this telematics thing a wide berth.

Not quite sure how this telematics thing is going to be a good idea if it's nearly double the price!

Sorry to appear dumb but what is telematics in relation to car insurance ?

Tracker/black box

I just don't agree with it, think its just big brother going way to far

Have one of the most invasive telematics systems in work in new vehicles just delivered...... And I thought the old system was bad! All turned off as the unions are contesting them lol. Unfortunately we have generated some blindingly positive statistics since their general implementation in a fleet of several thousand company cars......... So looks like they are here to stay. :(

I had a black box in my old peugeot for 7 months, it's hell on Earth. Also, if the price is higher stay well, well clear! They are supposed to lower the costs for younger drivers (I had quotes of between 6 grand and 12 grand without a box and £4300 ish with one) But it restricts when you can drive (can't go out between 10pm and 5am), can't speed at all and can't take corners fast or stop harshly. I had them on my back wanting another £135 off of me because I dropped 10 points out of 100 (I go to work at 3am on Wednesday) and yeah, I braked a bit much but it was an auto so there's not really any engine braking. they're just using the boxes as a weapon and try to get every penny out of you. The car only cost £700.
