Engine Cutting Out

Featured Replies

I am seeing problems when trying to use my spare key to start my Fabia Elegance 1.9TDi. Everything is fine when I use my key. However my girlfriend has just passed her test, so I got her put on the insurance ( ). She has always had the spare key so that she could get into the car if I wasn't about. It opens the doors (by way of the Remote Central Locking feature).

However when she tries to start the car, it starts, then immediately cuts out. Glow plugs warning light and ECU waning light (I think) are flashing. Is this the immoboliser stopping the engine. If so why does the spare key not work? Is this a quick fix for the dealer?

Cheers,

Paul

Does nobody know the cause of this? I won't have time to take it to the dealer until the weekend.

Thanks,

Paul

It sounds like the key has not been programmed to the car / immobiliser. Have a look at the VAGCOM map your local VAGCOM owner may be able to program the key for you.

The key has been used to start the car before, and it worked fine. That was a few months ago though.

Strange. I know from Peugeot exprience sometimes keys have 'forgotten' their codes.

Might still be worth checking with VAGCOM?
