Dont fit mate. Met up with Erik last year and we both came to the conclusion they don't and never will fit. Not enough room between wing and bonet for the lifter to go.

The Awesome is a one clikc style remap which makes changes to the cars pre-installed map. The boxes from MrHoot (AKA Dragon Tuning) are a digital device that plugs in under the bonnet and interupts the signal from the Fuel Temp sender causing over fueling of the car and thus giving more power.

DMS Dual system = AmD One Click developed by the same guy, same as physically. Maps are different though as far I know.

I had a dragon box (well two infact) both through up engine management lights and kicked off traction control which according to dragon is strange and not normal. They were helpful and have agreed to refund my money and I will save up for an AMD one click system which sounds better than awesome but more expensive.

This will be my first ever diesel and Im not too up on the ins and outs and technicalities like I am with petrol engines (particularly turbo petrol engines).

Im a little confused about how this box works. Does it cause predefined overfuel across the range from 0 to WOT ? Or is it progressive and works differently across the throttle and rev range?

The site talks about increased fuel economy for 'normal' driving conditions.

I dont understand exactly how this possible, if the device simply causes overfuelling?

Does anyone know anyone who has had one of these devices fitted long term ?

I'll try to explain without teaching you to suck the preverbial.

I have done a little bit of research on this. As you may be aware there are two types of Tuning Box available, Digital and the cheaper Analogue.

You shoud first realise that the Fuel Temp Sender is a form of variable resistor, a thermistor. The resistance changes depending on temperature.

I posted some pics and instructions on how to make an Analogue one a little while ago. I believe there are two versions of the analogue type, the first is a very basic one which offers a fixed resistance at all times and completely replaces the sensor with this resistor, commonly known as the Evry Mod. The second type has a resistor in parallell with the signal from the Fuel Temp Sender thus varying the resistance by an amount proportionate to the variation of the sensor signal. It is also fitted with a variable resistor to allow further fine tuning.

The digital type eludes me so far. I am convinced it works in a similar way to the second variant of the analogue one I mentioned, by proportionatly varying the resistance of the signal back to the ECU. I doubt it is that ground breaking stuff really and although they are nice quality I think the Dragon boxes are hugely over priced.

Sorry only just come back online. I had 2 digital ones.

Although giving lights and turning the traction control off it is not logging faults (well not according to the dealer)
