Rapid image problem ?

Featured Replies

BREAKING NEWS---saw my third Rapid since 1 August.  Flying off the shelves now !!

Was in a group of blokes the other day talking cars.

Skoda came up.  One idiot said never have a rubbish Skoda.  One said he had a fabia and his wife had an Octavia. He had looked at Rapid but would not get one because " it is only a temporary stop gap before the new Fabia comes out"

If all-----most----a lot----some people think of Rapid like that and say that to un-informed car buyers things could be bleak for Rapid sales.  There was too much said at launch about Rapid   "filling the gap"   between Fabia and Octavia  and this bloke at least sees it now as "temporary stop gap"

Nasty.  Skoda could have to do something inventive here.

Loads of people like Fords and Vauxhalls thats why they are popular. But Id never buy one because I dont like them! Personal opinion that's all.

Well

The Octy Scout was in & the dealer lent me a rapid Tdi for a coupe of days,

sorry, it looks just cheap dull & 5 year old Korean from the outside

But from behind the wheel its quite a nice drive for an average car, Ive had a few renters recently for various reasons & this was a pleasant surprise

Reminded me a lot of my old Octy Mk 1, felt pretty solid, chassis made it quite chuckable to the point of being quite pleasantly surprised, If they heavily discount them Im sure they will sell, If they do a facelift with a bit of styling flair that will be money well spent, build a VRS range leader & that will drag sales up as well & probably be a cracking car, far less bulky than the new Octavia so will be nimbler.

It is all opinion (often based upon never having been in one let alone driven one).

Personally, I quite like it as it would fit between wife's Fabia and my Octavia. I'd be prepared to try one if I were about to change either if these.

But only if the prices came down.

Agree with Stuart_J, a Vrs Rapid (especially a Spaceback) would get my attention.
