Speakers amps and a sub

Featured Replies

Hi all i have been given

2 kenwood 6x9

2 edge 5x5 speakers with tweeters

A xplod sub with amp

Another 1/2 channel amp

And a 4 channel amp

I was going to put these in a mk1 fabia vrs

Along with a single din sony explod hu which was gathering dust

But ive been wondering about the set up

I was thinking somthing like run the sub off the matched amp

And then run the the 6x9 and 5x5 component speakers of the 4 channel amp

However on the headunit its self

I have the following

Bus in

Rear/Sub audio

Front out

So if i run the sub from rear/sub audio

And run other amp from the front audio

I wouldnt be able to adjust front to rear settings

Is this correct ?

Also is this the best setup ?

As i will keep the front standard door speakers and rear door tweeters and run them off the headunit amp

ignoring the sub for a minute.

My opinion is it will sound dreadful. Might be loud and make lots of noise but it will be noise, not nice sound.

The sound will be dragged to the back of the car and your ears aren't designed to hear from behind you.

When you say 5x5 speakers with tweeters. Do you mean 5.25" components?

I personaly would look into replacing the oem front speakers and amping the ones you use to replace them with.

I would first try the head Sony head unit and the Sub and Amp you have acquired. Leave the standard speakers as they are but disconnect rear door tweeters. You will be amazed at how it sounds.

Yes they are the ones 5.25 round ones i was going to put them up front but amped and put the 6x9 in the parcel shelf amped and remove the ones out of the boot as they rattle first

The head unit one amp and sub are in now but dont know what to do about the above

fit the front speakers using a good baffle to make them solid. Amp them and leave it at that. Forget putting the 6x9's in the back

+1 for forgetting the 6x9's

Ok then i will try that and see how it goes thanks alot for the advice will post back to tell how it goes

Forgive me, I thought (ignoring the butchery of most installs) 6x9s were an improvement over the standard rears?

I like good sound at home and have spent money to achieve what I consider to be good. I'd like to improve the sound in my mk1 Octavia as it's pretty terrible... Want considering 6x9s but curious why they're so bad

If you want just loud they are fine but thats it. Especially when running them in the back of the car.

.they drag the sound backwards and makes it sound awful
