Faint Oscilating knocking sound at +70

Featured Replies

Any ideas behind what could be causing the above sound that comes from the front near side wheel, I get no vibration through the steering wheel , but the sound does seem to increase a bit when I apply the brakes, anyone have any ideas, I've changed the wheels front to back but this hasn't changed anything, would a warped disc cause this, and if so how come the symptoms do not appear at lower speeds..I'm lost as to the cause..if it's relevant the car has Uniroyal rain expert tyres all round..

Do you get any vibration through the brake pedal when you apply the brakes at the stated speed.

No nothing, braked pretty hard today 2 times from speed and still the same apart from the sound was then evident at slower speeds for a while. I did'nt feel any problem with the pedal..

Bought new boots for the front at the weekend, Goodyear efficient grip performance and the sound has virtually gone away + the car seems to be doing an additional 2-3 mpg, get in there:-))))) they were also brilliant in the weekends downpours...

Did the tyres you replaced have any uneven wear ? If so did you get the wheel alignment done ?

Not that i had noticed, and i had 4 wheel alighnment done at a reputable place using Hunter eqpt about 3-4 months back i'd also changed wheels back to front and couldn't get to the bottom of the issue.

Just keep an eye on your new tyres, if you see any signs of uneven wear or saw toothing then it may need rechecking

I used to have a sound like this

think it was a bulge in my offside front tyre
