Clarion NX702E...what do i need to install vrs 07 plate

am thinking of buying this unit as upgrade for standard unit in my skonda octavia vrs and was wandering what i may need ??

am guesting a dab aerial, i presume a adapter lead ??

i might get it professionally installed as i am looking at rear camera and lcd screens in back too :)

You will need to correct iso adapter. This is iso headunit and the car is canbus.

You will also need to decide one of two things. Run a wire to the fuse box to get a switched live OR spend a little more on a adapter which incorporates it.

If you want it all done professionaly then i'd suggest getting your self onto talkaudio.co.uk and ask around for people local to you. The nearest shop might not be the best person for the job

Thanks very much, am still unsure to get this head unit or not

Ive been offered the china unit dns810, the older unit had good reviews, its £400 but i feel for a unit that wont have much worth and no support

i feel it be worth spending the extra and getting a more branded one but i've ready loads of reviews kenwood unit seems to have a lot of issues,

this clarion looks good and has the tv tuner that i wanted plus if i wanted dab i could buy it as add on but am not fussed

cheers for your advice i will head over to that forum :)

if you have any suggestions for head units for vrs please let me know

kindest regards,

Stephen

I prefer to spend the extra money and buy the correct cable, can you advise which one please ??

kindest regards,

thanks for your help

This is what i bought. You may still need to swap the ignition live and perm live over on the headunits loom but thats is just swapping connectors over

thanks very much, however my car doesn't have steering controls would i still need this lead ??

am trying to find a guide to install myself, i did it on my last car ford mondeo, installing one those china gps units it was a nightmare, the only thing i couldn't fix on that installation was the blue screen... it did take me like 2/3 hrs but it was certainly a learning curve talking the dash apart lol

my car doesnt have steering controls either.

The reason you use the steering controls bit is that box has the ability to turn canbus into a switched live. All you do is plug the quad block connector in like you normaly would. Tape up the extra cables you see in the pic (not needed so you dont want them touching anything) and hey presto its working without tapping into the fuse box
