HT leads

Featured Replies

Evening all

Driving down the A14 this afternoon, the octy 1.2TSI started loosing power. Thought oh no not again and sure enough EPC, engine management and skiddy car light comes on. I stop at Cambridge services and call Skoda assist (RAC)

Popped open the bonnet and had a quick look but nothing obvious so called the boss to let him know and waited for breakdown people to arrive. 30 mins later i get a call and soon enough they have their diagnostics hooked up.

I say oh no not again because earlier this year in April I had the same thing. Skoda assist replaced number 3 HT lead and all was well.

Today was the turn of number 1 lead (according to the readout on his lappy). He didn't have one on his van so he took a trip out to Skoda in Cambridge and brought one back. Bit more tinkering and I was on my way. All done on warranty even though ive done over 60,000 miles and is just 2 years old

I was wondering if anyone else has had problems with poor HT leads. The new ones have a protective sleeve over them

By the way, hats off to Skoda assist

I have seen this a lot on SEAT cars, and we are being issued with lead sets for warranty jobs.

Update on this thread, a colleague of mine who also has the same model as me has had his second HT lead failure. The cars were bought at the same time as each other. The Skoda assist (RAC) man told him that its only the HT leads on cylinders 1&3 that go on the 1.2 petrol engines so hopefully its resolved for now...

On my wife's Fabia leads 1 and 4 failed (car went into limb mode, thankfully on a 40mph road) . To be on the safe side I also changed leads 2 and 3 with the upgraded /shielded ones and paid for them myself (£38 for both). I am now trying to claim back the money from skoda.

Was not worth waiting to have an issue with them and the car to go on limb mode when my wife is overtaking a track and put her and a little baby in risk.
